Apple Mac OS X Lion: In news!

Since Mac OS X Lion is an Apple product it’s got to be in news but, due to such a late consideration by Apple for Mac users, it has gained more popularity among the geeks. There are many things to talk about in Lion for there are 250 new features. However, some of the features are making an edge over the others for they have never been used on a personal computer before.

Appearance of Mac OS X Lion is more like that of the iOS for the Apple handheld devices. The gesture control, a unique characteristic of Lion, gives the user a handheld device feel on their personal computer. The Launch pad application in Lion rearranges the icons like in iOS giving a better view of the applications and the user also can drag and drop the icons anywhere in the free space provided.

Integration of Lion with Mac App Store is another remarkable characteristic of the operating system. Apple has even not released this version of the Mac OS on disks. They are providing either a direct download from Mac App Store or a USB disk drive with the OS.

According to the latest stats, Lion has progressed so much during a short time period that now every sixth Mac is running on Mac OS X Lion. With Lion users directly connected to the Mac App Store, a special Mac OS X Lion-friendly column has been introduced there. Every day the number of apps on Mac App Store is increasing tremendously, aiming at giving the users a better experience of the operating system. In one of the updates, a Recovery Partition Tool has also been launched for Lion, enhancing the usage of the OS recovery system. The online music distributor Sonos has also partnered with Mac OS X Lion.

Finally, the Lion operating system has taken its first step towards power savings allowing the laptop batteries to run for a longer time.

One of the problems that have not been resolved yet for Lion OS is the LDAP password issue but the company guarantees a permanent fix for the bug soon.

The improvements shown by Apple in this new Mac OS are commendable as they are inspired both from the iOS and Apple’s experience during the OS development.
