What if you wanted to back up only your emails, stored on your Mac?How would you locate the master files?

It might seem a bit tricky at first, but following these simple steps you’ll be able to easily find your stored mail and associated folders directly on your hard drive.

Via the Finder, navigate to the “GO” menu in the Menu Bar at the top of your display.
Next, after the menu drops down press the “Option” key on your keyboard. You’ll see the hidden “Library” option.Highlight and select “Library”.
The Library window for all your applications will open. Now,look for a folder titled “Mail”.”Mail Downloads” is also located in this folder. That specific folder contains all attachments to your emails.Removing, deleting or renaming any of those will make it impossible to link them to your email.
If you go back to the “Mail” folder and double click to open it you’ll see a folder called “V2”.Open this folder also. Now you’ll be presented with folders for your email accounts, any mailboxes you may have setup in mail, and RSS feeds if you use Mail for RSS(Really Simple Syndication).
Inside of these folders is the data of your stored email and mailboxes.Go through the folders and you will notice when you open a .mbox folder that you can drill down and perform a quick view straight in the finder of stored emails by pressing the spacebar.
Keep in mind, that some files may not be readable in applications other than the Mail app.
This tip works for Mac OS X Lion 10.7 users. In Snow Leopard or previous versions of the operating system the “Library” folder was not hidden, therefore, the additional hold down “Option” key step is not necessary.

Up untill this week Trojans and viruses were something Mac users didn’t have to worry about.Who would’ve known that Mac’s well-known invincibility would go up in flames.

Earlier this week there were reports from different sources about the so-called Flashback Trojan that has eventually infected over 600,000 Macs in the US,Canada,United Kingdom and Australia.Apparently, the attack has been directed towards English-speaking countries. The new thing about this malware is that it doesn’t require user’s interaction at all.It appears as an update for Java and installs itself on the computer when clicked on in order to steal passwords and shut down security mechanisms. However,if you still haven’t downloaded the latest version of Java for OS X Lion - do it right away. Here is how you check if your Mac is infected by Flashback Trojan:
1)Launch Terminal(found in /Applications/Utilities/)and enter the following commands:
defaults read /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Info LSEnvironment

2)If you see a message like:”The domain/default pair of (/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Info, LSEnvironment)does not exist”,proceed to the next defaults write command:
defaults read ~/.MacOSX/environment DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES

3)If you see a message similar to “The domain/default pair of(/Users/joe/.MacOSX/environment,DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES) does not exist” then your Mac is NOT infected

If you see something different in the Terminal, like if the defaults read commands show actual values you might have a Trojan.Getting rid of it is just a matter of a few copy-and-paste actions. You can find step-by-step instructions here.

This is why it is so important to keep your Java updated.

In order to make sure that your Mac’s battery life is going to be as long as possible, there are two things you need to do whenever you lay your hands on your new Mac.First of all, make sure to set yourself a reminder to notify you of the expiration of its One-Year Warranty or AppleCare. It is also a good idea to set a regular reminder to tell you to check your battery’s usage time, that has to be done at minimum once to two-to-three weeks before the warranty of AppleCare expiration. The most important thing here is to catch battery issues before the warranty expires,so you’d still have a chance to get those problems fixed, because the service might be free.

Second step is to calibrate your Mac’s battery when it’s brand new and measure initial usage time;you may write it down somewhere. This will be a point of reference as your Mac ages.Over time, the accuracy of your battery’s internal gauge gets out-of-sync with the battery’s actual capacity and that is why recalibration is necessary in order for you to track the battery’s charge.
Apple suggests you calibrate your Mac’s battery when it’s brand new and then once every few months thereafter. Here are simple steps to accomplish calibration:

Step 1: Charge to full capacity.

Step 2: Use battery in fully charged state.

Step 3: Disconnect from power adapter and continue use.

Step 4: Continue use until Mac shuts itself off.

Step 5: Let Mac sit for about 30 minutes to an hour (some say longer).

Step 6: Recharge again to full capacity. The charge should be uninterrupted.

In case you need assistance with calibration,Apple has it’s own site on battery calibration, where you can find step-by-step guides.

Maximizing Your Battery’s Life: Battery Care During Your Mac’s Life
Following a few simple rules will make taking care of your Mac’s battery really easy.First, makes sure to recalibrate your Mac’s battery every other month.Doing this is so important, that Apple offers pre-made iCal reminders on it’s battery care page.
Second, make your battery work regularly.Don’t let it sit around completely full or empty. It’s not a good idea to have your Mac plugged in 27/7,because when plugged in,your battery is constantly staying in a charged state,in this case,it is exposed to a higher voltage level, and that may stress the battery.
If your battery is put under stress it will age quicker, than it otherwise would.Same as overcharging the battery, deep discharging also stresses the battery and may even lead it to a failure. The way your battery is made requires regular usage in order to maximize it’s life.
Third, don’t expose your battery to extreme temperatures. The best temperature for your Mac’s battery to function properly is approximately 68°F(room temperature).Extremely hot or cold temperature stresses your battery and reduces it’s life.Don’t leave your Mac in a car on a cold winter night or hot summer day.Likewise, make sure your battery is not overheated while working or charging.
Fourth, you should store your battery properly.A stored battery will continue to age inevitably. But there is a way to minimize and slow down the aging process by following two simple rules – store your battery at approximately 40% capacity – this charge level will ensure that age-related capacity loss is minimized. Also, keep it in a cool(59°F or less) and dry place.

As per the sources, the latest iPad model of apple iPad 3 will be launched in the markets on the 24th of February this year as a tribute to the co-founder and former chairman of Apple, Inc., Steve jobs as the marks his birth day.

The rumors aim at that those of the market could use the mediatic date to send to the market the next iPad model. Still it is an incognito as to what will be the final name and characteristics. Nevertheless the Chinese assemblers have increased the production rhythm, which is another indication that the date of presentation is very near.

At the moment, what is known about the screen resolution of the new tablet of 9.7 inches will arrive up to 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. What also is known is that it could see the light with the next SoC of the company, Apple A6, with a design of four nuclei within it.

Another reason that gives to weight to a presentation day 24 of February is that only two days later the fair Mobile World Congress begins and there he will be where we will see all the alternatives of the market, with a special presence of NVIDIA Tegra 3 such as the tablet platform.

Via the sources of the web world, the information has already flowed out for determining that the date of the exit of iPad 3 is in February of 2012. The trick of next iPad will be its screen hi-res, retina-display with 2048 × 1536 pixels, but it loses value against the future Galaxy Tab 11.6, that will offer a screen with a resolution that is widely superior.

iPad 3 was previously expected to arrive on Christmas, but the problems with their screens retina-display prevented it. Previous information suggested next iPad 3 would arrive with a screen from hi-res and a thickness from 0.7mm, which consequently agreed with the new collected data.

In the same year, to iPad 3 a small brother with a screen of 7.85 inches would add itself to him.

Apple will receive 3 million Retina Display for iPad 3

The screen of next iPad 3 will arrive with a resolution from 2,048 x 1,536 pixels from points such as the Retina display from iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. One finishes knowing that LG, Samsung and Sharp have made more than 1 million screens of individual way, which adds more than 3 million altogether.

The internal rumors of the industry aim at that Apple will be receiving the screens for the next iPad model, the iPad 3. Apple has reduced to the orders for screens iPad 2 and as it seems that it does not deal with which the company hopes that the sales slack off, but a stock adjustment/inventory. This aims at a renovation of iPad for probably in the month of February.

Apple hopes to sell between 15 and 16 million of iPads during the trimester. The screen Display Retina for iPad 3/iPad 2S could be the repulsive one that Apple needs to return so as to make it different from the rest of alternatives available in the market.

It seems incredible but already they have spent 10 years. To be more precise, 23 of October of the year 2001 Apple gave to the world the famous and revolutionary musical reproducer under the name of iPod. It will sound well-worn and very appellant but, in this case, it is really possible to speak of a revolution since the appearance of this small and beautiful musical reproducer not only changed the form in which we listened to music but also the way in which we consumed digital contents. In other words, the 23 of October of 2001 marked before and later in the world and the form in which we were related to music, the technology, and our pairs.

iPod Classic

iPod, now known like iPod Classic, was the founding stone, which gave rise to everything. Below mentioned is a brief review by its different generations:

First Generation: it was sent on the 23 of October of 2001, it offered models of 5 and 10 GB, and FireWire connection.

Second Generation: it was sent on the 17 of 2002 July, it offered models of 10 and 20 GB, and was first in presenting/displaying the sensitive navigator.

Third Generation: it was sent on the 28 of April of 2003, offered models of 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 GB, aligned bellboys, and incorporated connection USB for the synchronization.

4G – Photo: it appeared in July of 2004 with models of 20, 30, 40, and 60 GB, and incorporated bellboys integrated to the wheel or touch wheel.

5G – Video: it was presented/displayed 12 on the October of 2005 with one more a greater screen and models of 30, 60, and 80 GB. Also it presented/displayed the purchase of games via iTunes.

6G iPod Classic: it was sent on the 5th of September of 2007 in models of 80 and 160 GB. Its size and thickness were reduced (maintaining the screen of 2.5 inches), and the autonomy of the battery improved.

6.5G iPod Classic: this model of 120 GB was sent in 9 of September of 2008.

7G iPod Classic: this was the last update of iPod Classic. With 160 GB of capacity, a year was sent later, the 9 of September of 2009.

Mini iPod

Mini iPod counted on two generations, one of 4 GB on the 6 of January of 2004 and another one of 4 and 6 GB sent on the 22 of February of 2005. This device did not count on screen, only with a small wheel with integrated bellboys, that is to say that was thought so that it is very easy to transport and lightweighted. The click-wheel made its debut from this device.

iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle

Well known, iPod Nano still continues to be in production since it has undergone many changes in the last years. Originally a device very similar to Mini iPod but with a small screen and their last two generations offer touch screen and video camera (5G) (6G).

On the other hand, iPod Shuffle also had one long life since it offered four generations and is the device for the exercise and the physical activity par excellence. The size is incredibly small, making it a perfect musical reproducer for. Its capacity is of 2 GB.

iPod Touch

not much introduction is required for this device. With four generations of life, he is famous mainly for being the counterpart of iPhone. That is to say, the characteristics of this musical reproducer always were on the hand of the launchings of the iPhone and we could consider it equal to smartphone of Apple – but without the telephone capacity.

It is not a surprise that Apple and Google compete by the sceptre of better movable operating system, and it is that iPhone with the iOS, and Android, is more important as movable operating systems of the moment. Below mentioned is a list of 10 brilliant characteristics of Android which would let the iOS to grow towards the perfection if it holds them.

Alternative Keyboards

Although iPhone counts on other keyboards besides the traditional one, these can be used in the different applications in which they are implemented, but they are not possible to be used in all the operating system.

On the contrary, Android offers all type of keyboards, so that the users install and use the one that more adjusts to its tastes and needs. The keyboards in Android can settle from the own Market and activate in the adjustments, to work perfectly integrated in all the applications of the terminal.

Widgets

Widgets is one of the most powerful tools of the operating system of Google, since they allow us to reach to all important information without needing to open any application. There exist widgets for almost everything, from meteorology to calendars, happening through simple adornments or lists Everything.

The users of iPhone with jailbreak can use similar things, but they cannot add them in the places that want.

Interchangeable Battery And Memory Of External Storage

Although this point is not exactly of software, but is commentable like an improvement, since the users of Android can take an extra battery to any place when they are not going to have a wall socket or a PC surrounds. In addition, they can interchange information by means of cards SD simply clearing one and putting another one, or increase the capacities of storage of the device. In iPhone, both things are impossible.

ROMs customized

Another characteristics that Android allows, is the installation of ROMs that have been customized with improvements that the community of developer from the code of Android realizes. It is possible to be updated with a customized ROM, or to be used by the improvements that implement the way for developers.

This is something impossible in iOS, and is something that the users of iOS never will be able to do. On the other hand, it needs that the experience users are something in the subject or they inquire well before, because they are more dangerous processes.

To Control The Moving Body From The PC

Another one of the great advantages of Android is that the user is able control the moving body of the system without many complications, being able from sending texts directly from Chrome to even accede to basic functions of the moving body without moving to us of the PC. With iPhone it is possible also to be done, but applications are needed extra to accede to some functions.

Real Integration Of The Services And Applications

Although on an iPhone the applications of Google can be used, and Google Voice is going to be available next, the experience of integration of all the services of Google in an Android equipment is a true wonder and is incomparable. On the other hand, it is logical that if Android is born from Google, their services provide a good experience of integration.

The Assistant of Migration helps you to easily transfer a file from a PC or a Mac to another Mac. You can transfer your account of user (including all images, music and archives).

You can easily move to your new Mac as well as your archives of Windows and use them with the applications of Mac. The Mac can abrir hundreds of different types from archives from your PC, as long as you have installed software necessary to interpret them.

For example, you can move all documents of Microsoft Office to your Mac if you have Microsoft Office installed on Mac OS X. Office practically works equal in a Mac and a PC. Also, you can move any file of Photoshop (.psd) to your Mac and abrir it as long as you have Adobe Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) for installed Mac (Photoshop has a very similar interface in both platforms). The same happens for the archives of Quicken, FileMaker Pro, Macromedia Studio, QuarkXPress, QuickBooks and other applications; if you have a version for Mac of software, you can abrir the archives of your old PC.

If you are not safe if a version for Mac of the software of Windows exists, you can enter the Web site of the manufacturer or verify the Unloadings of Apple, Apple Store or App Store to see numerous existing products for Mac. It consults discs of installation of the software of your PC. Some manufacturers as much send versions for Mac as for Windows of software in the same package.
When you initiate session with a transferred account of user, all the information is where it must be:

The customized image of the bottom of your PC continues being the image of the bottom present.

Your accounts of electronic mail, with their messages and associates, are formed in Mail.

Your contacts are in Agenda.

Your accounts of calendars, including the meetings and the events, are formed in iCal.

The favorites and the page of beginning of the navigating Web already are formed in Safari.

The applications for iPhone and iPod touch that you have bought in iTunes in your PC are in iTunes in the Mac. If you had put music in iTunes in your PC, also it will be in iTunes in the Mac.

The archives of the folders My Documents, My Videos, My Music or My Images are in the folders Documents, Films, Music or Images in the Finder.

The archives of the writing-desk of the PC are in the writing-desk of the Mac.

Although, there are several photo management apps for Mac operating system, but, the best one, according to my opinion is the application of Lyn which can be a very easy replacement of iPhoto. Although, the application of Lyn is a bit more costly, but the versatility it offers is far better than what Apple is offering.

The application is especially designed to be compatible with Mac OS X platform and has been tagged to be of $20. The features of this application are as follows:

Has the ability to load up images to virtually of any size.

Feature of slideshow or fullscreen.

Holds the ability o provide a progressive display on a single as well as on multiple computers.

Multi threading options so as to benefit from multicore CPU’s.

Converting and rename of batches.

Presets that are user defined as well as complete IPTC editing included.

Also quite compatible with (HDR) High Dynamic Range images such as the TIFF float along with OpenEXR and Radiance.

Navigation of the images with the help of Magic Trackpad or the Apple Remote Control.

User defined places.

Easy browsing of Aperture, iPhoto as well as Lightroom libraries which is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and higher versions.

The feature of a non-destructive editing for the purpose of image transformation.

Flickr, Facebook, Picassa and 500px Web Albums sharing which is also compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and later.

The Upside

The application of Lyn is a very versatile photo management program which works as per the user wants it to. If you are a user of the iPhoto application and are willing to make a switch, the app can also read out your iPhoto library as it is. However, if your requirement is to simply view a structure of the folder that is running currently on your drive, the application of Lyn also has the ability to handle this function also. If you want to manage your photos, this can also be done quite well. All in all the application has several beneficial aspects. If you want to place your images at any other place, the application also has a deep integration with online services such as the FaceBook, Picassa as well as Flickr so that these images can be shared out very easily. The best part of this app is that it loads up the image previews in a very fast speed which is very useful for those people who have a large collection of images.

The Downside

The application does not hold much downside. Lyn manages your pictures, have a speedy interface as well as it integrates with every web based service. What is absent is however, are one of those special features that are made part of the iPhoto app. Lyn does not hold the feature of facial recognition or the organization by making use of the Apple’s event structure. Moreover, the user also cannot make an order of cards, books and other products directly via the application. So, if you are concerned about these aspects, then iPhoto might be the option and if you are not, Lyn is the app worth trying.

If you are hard user of a Mac operating system, than there might be several times when you run out of space in your hard drive. This situation is quite annoying. Although, there are several in-built functions available in these operating systems, but, the requirement to use external drives are still very important. Under such a situation, the application of Store ‘n’ Go Hard Drive for Mac systems is a sign of relief under work stress.

Interface of the App

A very nice feature of this storage drive is that it is inclusive of both a FireWire FS800 as well as a USB 3.0 interface. With this functionality, the user is provided with a tremendous flexibility so as to get connected with several other devices. It is also formatted with the HFS+ the result of which is that the drive will be compatible with Mac OS X only. However, it can also be reformatted, if required, to FAT32 so as to make it useable for both the Mac and the PC operating units. But, if you are a Mac only geek, than HFS+ is the best option so as to achieve higher performance levels.

Performance

In the performance aspect, speed is of utmost importance. The faster data can be transferred into PC’s or Mac systems by a non-linear suite for the post production, the better it is. For many normal users, USB 3.0 is a must feature and so is the case for FW in Mac systems. On the reading aspect, the drive came back to 60 MB and the writing aspect reaches about 50 MB on the average. This figure is estimately 80 to 90 percent great as to what is offered on USB 2.0 which is an excellent boost in performance.

Design

The drive is a very well build up as well as a solid one. The finishing of the drive has been made with the effect of glossy black top and the corners of it have been rounded up subtly. Moreover, a rear light is also provided on the on the edge of the drive which is a connection indicator. This drive is not smaller or larger than other drives, but, the quality of the built it holds is quite impressive. So, for those people who are need to have fast data transfer ability in their storage drive, this drive deserves a very warm welcome in your arsenal.

Competitive Advantage

In terms of pricing aspects, Store ‘n’ Go drive offers a very good value. If your requirement is only to have USB 3.0, then you can also go for the single interface model in three colors – blue, Classic pink or glossy black.

The pricing aspect of the drive is $149 for 500 GB USB 3.0 interface and $174 for 500 GB 3.0 as well as FW 800 interfaces.

Verdict: If you are in the requirement of a highly robust as well as a portable hard drive, the storage drive of Store ‘n’ Go is the option worth trying which has resulted to be 100 percent reliable until now.

Since the release of the Mac OS X Lion, there have been persisting several rumors about the influence of iOS devices of Apple. From the feature of scrolling to the gestures it holds and the overall interface, several of the Mac users have complained out that the Mac system has become very similar to iOS devices. On the other hand, there are some Mac users who wish that the Mac system should be somewhat like iOS, at least the good features of it.

So, if you are among those Mac users who want some good resemblance within their system, the application of PopClip version 1.2.1 is the best option. Having the PopClip running, if you select the text within any application, there will appear out an iOS type pop-up that will be including the options that are considered appropriate for that particular context.

Another excellent way to use PopClip is to cut and paste out the text. Moreover, if the text you have selected is editable, that pop-up will also include cutting it; and if you have also copied out a text previously through PopClip, there will also be provided the options through which that copied text of the clipboard can be pasted. In the same manner, if you have also copied some text with PopClip, then clicking anywhere within an editable document will automatically appear a pop-up which has options to paste it.

On the other hand, there are also several other tweaking options available within the PopClip feature. In case, any app does get along well with PopClip, or you are not receiving any pop over within an app, that particular program can be easily added within the excluded list of applications in PopClip. Moreover, the size of the pop up can also be adjusted along with the feature of disabling specific forms of commands such as working on a document with links, searching, spelling as well as definitions.

In addition to some useful features, the app of PopClip also has some quirks within it. There are many times when the pop up of the app fails to display occasionally until the user selects the text for the second time. Moreover, if you are selecting a complete block of text, the pop up does simply appear. The solution is one, click at any other position within the document and then reselect the text.

There are some of the features that seem to be missing within the app such as selecting the option of dictionary definition; the application launches the dictionary function of OS X instead of using the less disruptive definition. Moreover, if you are keyboard shortcut user, than one most important feature is that the pop up should appear out anywhere the text has been selected and allowing the user to make use of the keyboard so as to select from the available commands. However, for most of the Mac users who like to use a trackpad or mouse, the application of PopClip is the quite unique and effective.
